Coromandel Antique Jewellery Box with Drawers and Secret Floor Compartment

This unique antique jewellery box comprises some of the most ingenious secret compartments and mechanisms.
The exterior of the box is veneered in figured Coromandel wood, edged in brass, with delicately engraved brass inlay to the front and top. The inlaid brass central escutcheon, as well as the two front Bramah locks, are also decorated with fine engraving.
This attention to detail continues inside the box with every piece of gilded brass work having been elaborately and intricately engraved to match.
A brass inlaid Coromandel framed mirror is fitted within the lid. Once removed, this mirror uncovers a leather-bound secret letter wallet behind.
The blue velvet-lined interior comprises five equal compartments to the front and one full-width compartment to the rear.
Two buttons to the left and right interior walls deploy small spring-loaded coromandel-framed side drawers. These drawers have leather-bound, gold tooled lids that lift up to reveal matching velvet and Moiré silk lined jewellery compartments.
A button to the rear of the box releases the front drawer with its own independently locking Bramah lock. This large velvet-lined drawer has a matching gold-tooled leather-bound lid to the rear, which conceals two further velvet and Moiré silk lined compartments.
The front drawer can be removed to locate a hidden spring-loaded button in the side wall that releases a secret floor panel. Underneath this panel sits a solid Satinwood tray, partitioned into two sections, one of which holds a removable mahogany gold Sovereign tray. The Satinwood tray itself can also be removed to allow a pair of spring-loaded concealed drawers to pop out from the left and right sides.
