Asprey Antique Jewellery Box in Coromandel

Ref DL019
SOLD
This antique jewellery box, with its exquisitely figured Coromandel veneer, brass edging, recessed side handles and two Bramah locks, dates back to the late 1860s. It was originally manufactured and retailed by Asprey of Bond Street, London.

Throughout the nineteenth century, Asprey's were considered as one of the most prestigious makers and retailers of luxury goods in the world, and still to this day, their famous shop at 166 Bond Street, London remains as a luxury shopping destination.

The brass 'A.C.S' monogram of the box's original owner is ornately engraved and inlaid into the lid.

The interior of the box is lined with dark blue velvet, comprising several compartments ideal for storing jewellery, watches and other valuables.

The brass Asprey maker's plate at the rear of the box pushes down to release an independently lockable front drawer. This drawer contains a large lidded, velvet-lined jewellery compartment with full width ring/ cuff link channel.

A spring-loaded mirror, framed in leather with gold tooling, is fitted inside the lid and can be popped out to reveal a matching leather-bound secret letter wallet behind.

Both Bramah locks are fully working and come with their original Bramah key.
