Antique Jewellery Box in Coromandel with Drop Front and Concealed Drawers

Ref DL020
SOLD
Dating from the 1860s, this antique jewellery box is veneered in Coromandel wood with fine brass edging.

The interior of the box is lined with dark blue velvet and partitioned into four jewellery compartments.

The front flap of the box, which holds the Bramah lock, drops forward to reveal two drawers. The top drawer, with its leather-lined interior, is opened by its brass recessed handle, whilst the bottom spring-loaded drawer is released by push button to the rear of the box's main compartment. The bottom drawer has an internal leather-bound writing surface lid with gold tooling detail. This lid conceals four further jewellery compartments and a ring/ cuff-link channel underneath.

Both drawer structures are made from vibrant solid Satinwood with intricate dovetail joints to the corners.

The Bramah lock is fully working and comes with its original Bramah key.
