This stunning Kingwood antique jewellery box dates from the early 1840's. It has been decorated with foliate brass inlay around the front and top borders, and then edged with right-angle brass binding. There are smart recessed brass handles to the sides.

The top of the box has a unique patterned design, having been constructed from four separate pieces of figured Kingwood.

The signed Bramah lock to the front of the box comes with its original ornate gold-plated Bramah key.

The interior of the box is lined and ruched with burgundy velvet. The five partitioned compartments are perfect for holding a large amount of jewellery and valuables.

The interior rims of the box are intricately inlaid with double brass stringing, and the reinforced concealed brass hinges are stamped 'E. Wells & Co.'
