Antique Jewellery Box in Rosewood with Foliate Brass Inlay, by William Dobson

This Rosewood antique jewellery box, dating from the 1820's, has been delicately inlaid with foliate brass to the front and top, edged in right-angle brass and finished with recessed side handles.
The interior, comprising a Mahogany jewellery tray, has been lined and ruched with burgundy velvet.
Removing the brass locking pin allows the lower drawer to be opened. This drawer contains a lift out Mahogany box that, once the lid has been removed, reveals a further velvet-lined jewellery area with a full length ring/ cuff-link channel.
Both the internal lid section in the lower drawer and the underside of the Mahogany jewellery tray display a maker's label that reads:
"Wm Dobson.
Hardwareman, Stationer and Dealer in Fine Cutlery.
Patentee of Zephyr
