Coromandel Antique Jewellery Box by William Lund

This antique jewellery box, veneered in Coromandel, dates from the 1870's and was manufactured by the highly regarded cabinetmaker and retailer, William Lund of 56-57 Cornhill and 24 Fleet Street, London.

The interior of the box is lined and ruched in blue velvet and the interior rims are inlaid with brass corner mounts. There are three small side compartments that accompany the main front and rear compartments. A spring-loaded ruched velvet panel in the lid can be released to reveal a secret letter wallet on the reverse, as well as a fixed mirror with six small leather-bound and satin lined wallets behind.

An engraved brass plate set into the rear rim of the box reads, 'Lund - Cornhill & Fleet St, London'.

The Bramah lock is fully working and comes with its original Bramah key.
