Antique Jewellery Box in Rosewood, by Bramah, Prestage & Ball

Dating from around 1840, this large antique jewellery box is veneered in Rosewood, and fitted with radial brass edging, ornate recessed brass side handles and a Bramah lock.
The inside of the box is lined and ruched with burgundy velvet, having double brass strung inlay to the interior rims. The removable velvet-lined jewellery tray lifts out to reveal a velvet-lined base section below.
A leather maker's label on the inside of the lid bears the gold tooled mark of, 'Bramah, Prestage & Ball - 124, Piccadilly. Manufacturers to Her Majesty'. In addition, the box retains an original hand printed advertising document for Bramah, Pretsage & Ball.
