Antique Jewellery Box in Burr Walnut, by Joseph Pearce

This antique jewellery box dates from the early 1860’s, and is veneered in Burr Walnut with brass edging. It has been inlaid with engraved brass swags and escutcheons; the central one bearing the original family crest and initials.
The leather-bound interior of the box, containing a removable jewellery tray, is finished with blue velvet and grosgrain silk. The brass work has been delicately engraved, accompanying the decorative gold-tooling to the peripheries of the leather partitions.
A push button set into the rear rim of the box releases a spring-loaded lower drawer. This drawer is fitted with a full width ring/ cuff-link channel and a single velvet-lined compartment.
