Antique Jewellery Box in Coromandel, Attributed to William Lund

This antique jewellery box, veneered in vibrant Coromandel and Calamander, dates from the early 1850’s. Although unsigned, judging by the box’s exterior design, and the recessed side handle and interior corner mount design, it was almost certainly manufactured by the highly regarded cabinetmaker and retailer, William Lund of 56-57 Cornhill and 24 Fleet Street, London.

The interior of the box, lined with gold velvet and grosgrain silk, is fitted with a removable leather-bound tray.
