French Antique Travelling Jewellery Box in Cuban Mahogany

This French antique travelling jewellery box, dating from around 1810, is made from solid Cuban Mahogany. It has been sculpted from a single piece of wood, and then sawn in half to make up the main section and the lid. The wood has then been hollowed out for the interior to be fitted. The box is finished with a rectangular brass lock frontage, engraved brass central shield, and inlaid brass stringing.

The interior is lined with blue velvet and matching Grosgrain silk.
