Antique Jewellery Box in Calamander, by Asprey

Dating from the mid 1870’s, this antique jewellery box is veneered in calamander, edged with brass, and finished with a central engraved brass ‘M.E’ initialled monogram.
The interior of the box is lined with blue velvet and matching moiré silk. A push button to the rear rim of the box deploys the front spring-loaded and independently lockable lower drawer. The brass plate surrounding the push button bears the mark of ‘Asprey - Maker - 166, Bond St - London’. The interior brass work is delicately engraved with a scroll and floral design.
The Bramah locks are fully working and come with their original Bramah keys.
