Antique Jewellery Box in Coromandel, Retailed by Ernest Renton

This large antique jewellery box, dating from the late 1870s, is veneered in coromandel, with nickel-plated brass radial edging, inlaid monogram, recessed side handles and a Bramah lock.

The interior of the box is lined and ruched with blue velvet, accompanying nickel-plated fittings. There is a removable leather-bound jewellery tray with a velvet-lined area beneath, as well as a full-width rear compartment.

The retailer's plate at the rear of the box, engraved with ‘Ernest Renton - Jeweller - 1 Pall Mall Place’, pushes down to release a spring-loaded front drawer. This drawer contains two full-width velvet-lined jewellery compartments and a full-width ring/cufflink channel.

The Bramah lock is fully working and comes with its original Bramah key.
