Antique Radial-Edged Travelling Jewellery Box in Mahogany

This gentleman's antique jewellery box, with its brass strapping, recessed brass handles and radial-edged design, is made from solid mahogany. It dates from the early 1830s.

The interior of the box is lined with blue velvet, moiré silk and Morocco leather. There is a removable solid mahogany jewellery tray that reveals a large velvet-lined compartment below.

Set within gold-tooled leather, a manufacturer's and retailer's label for Samuel Pratt is presented to the underside of the lid.

The Bramah lock is fully working and comes with its original Bramah key.
