Antique Jewellery Box in Burr Walnut

Ref DL056
SOLD
This antique jewellery box, veneered in Burr Walnut and edged with fine brass binding, was manufactured in the early 1870's. The inlaid and engraved 'N.A.E' brass monogram in the lid denotes the initials of its original owner.

The interior of the box, with its original gilded brass work, is lined and ruched with dark purple velvet. There are two removable leather-bound and velvet-lined jewellery trays; the top one being divided into multiple compartments and the lower one being a single shallow lined compartment.

A push button set into the rear rim of the box releases a spring-loaded lower drawer that can also be independently locked. This drawer has a leather-bound and gold tooled writing surface that lifts to reveal a further velvet-lined compartmented jewellery area with a ring/ cuff-link channel.

The main Bramah lock is stamped 'J. T Needs, 100 New Bond Street - Late J. Bramah, 124 Piccadilly'.

The Bramah lock is fully working and comes with its original Bramah key.
