Antique Jewellery Box in Coromandel

Ref DL077
SOLD
This 1870's antique jewellery box in Coromandel is edged in brass and fitted with two Bramah locks. The top brass plate has the finely engraved monogram of 'M.E.K' that would have belonged to the box's original owner.

The interior of the box is lined and ruched in purple velvet. There is a removable leather-bound tray with a velvet-lined area beneath, as well as a full width rear section. The lid of the box holds a ruched velvet panel which springs forward, with the push of a concealed button, to reveal a leather-framed mirror on the reverse, as well as a secret letter wallet behind.

A push button to the rear of the box releases a spring-loaded front drawer with a leather-bound lidded surface. Underneath this surface is a large velvet-lined jewellery area and full width ring/ cuff link channel. This lower drawer has its own independently locking Bramah lock.

Both Bramah locks are fully working and come with their original Bramah key.
