Antique Jewellery Box in Coromandel with Two Concealed Drawers

This antique jewellery box, dating from the 1860's, is veneered in vibrant Coromandel with brass edging and a radial-edged lid; the centre of which is inlaid with a vacant brass shield and swag.
The interior is lined and ruched with purple velvet. The front flap of the box drops forward to reveal two drawers with recessed brass handles. The main section has been compartmented, whilst both drawers pull out to reveal open velvet-lined interiors. There is fine engraving to all the interior brass work.
A spring-loaded ruched velvet panel in the lid can be reversed to display a leather framed mirror. Behind this panel is a concealed leather-bound letter wallet.
