Antique Campaign Decanter Box in Rosewood with 'Magnum' Sized Decanters

Ref DL152
SOLD
Dating from around 1840, this antique campaign decanter box is veneered in Rosewood, with right-angle brass edging, recessed brass side handles, and a Bramah lock.

The interior, lined with peridot green velvet, houses two ‘magnum’ sized crystal decanters (each capable of holding a 1.5 litre capacity).

The internal frontage of lid has been precisely carved out to create the clearance necessary to close over the decanters; this allows the top of the decanter stoppers to gently make contact with velvet pad on the underside of the lid, thus holding them firmly in place during transit.

The box is fitted with concealed brass hinges stamped 'E. Wells & Co Patent'.

The Bramah lock comes with its original key.
