Antique Jewellery Box in Coromandel, by Asprey

This antique jewellery box, veneered in Coromandel with brass edging, was manufactured and retailed by Asprey during the mid 1860’s.
The partitioned interior of the box is lined with purple velvet and contrasting grosgrain silk. A push button to the rear rim of the box deploys the spring-loaded and independently lockable lower drawer. This partitioned drawer is fitted with a full width ring/ cuff link channel. The interior brass work is delicately engraved with a scroll design; both Bramah lock plates being further engraved with, ‘Asprey - 166 Bond St’.
