Antique Jewellery Box in Coromandel, by Asprey

Dating from the mid-1860’s, this antique jewellery box is veneered in coromandel, edged with brass, and finished with a central engraved brass monogram bearing the initials ‘K.H.W’.
The interior of the box is lined with green velvet and matching moiré silk. A leather-bound compartmented jewellery tray can be removed to reveal a large lined area beneath.
A push button to the rear rim of the box deploys a spring-loaded and independently lockable lower drawer. The brass plate surrounding the push button bears the mark of ‘Asprey - Maker - 166, Bond St - London’.
