Miniature Antique Jewellery Box in Rosewood, by Edwards
Ref DL296
SOLD
Dating from the mid-1830’s, this miniature antique jewellery box was manufactured and retailed by one of the finest English cabinet makers, Edwards. It is veneered in Brazilian Rosewood, edged in brass and finished with a Bramah lock.
The interior of the box is lined with blue velvet, moiré silk and Morocco leather. A compartmented leather-bound jewellery tray lifts out to reveal a velvet and moiré silk-lined area below. The interior walls of the lid section have been decorated with a gold-tooled leather design.
A paper maker’s label to the underside of the tray reads, 'Edwards, Manufacturer to The King. 21 King St, Bloomsbury, London'.
The Bramah lock is fully working and comes with its Bramah key.
