Dating from the 1870’s, this antique jewellery box is veneered in Burr Elm, with brass edging and recessed brass side handles.
The cushioned single compartment interior is lined and ruched with forest green velvet, and edged with green moiré silk.
An engraved brass retailer’s plate to the rear rim of the lid reads, ‘Vincent - Weymouth’; this relates to the Jeweller, John Vincent of 86 St Mary Street, Weymouth.
