French Antique Jewellery Box in Rosewood with Foliate and Scrollwork Brass Inlay, by Aucoc

Dating from the mid-1850's, this exquisite French antique jewellery box is veneered in rosewood and inlaid with an engraved foliate and scrollwork brass design. The box is finished with decoratively engraved radial brass edging, recessed brass side handles, and a centrally mounted monogram.

The interior is lined with burgundy velvet and matching moiré silk.

A serpentine solid Mahogany compartmented tray can be removed to reveal a large velvet and silk-lined area beneath.

A removable freestanding Ebony framed easel mirror is stowed to the underside of the lid.

The full width lock mount, fitted with a Bramah patent lock, bears the engraved manufacturer’s mark of, ‘Aucoc Ainé à Paris'.

The Bramah Patent lock comes with its original key.
