Antique Jewellery Box in Coromandel, by Asprey

This antique jewellery box, veneered in coromandel with brass edging, was manufactured and retailed by Asprey during the mid-1860s.

The partitioned interior of the box is lined with purple velvet and contrasting grosgrain silk. A push button to the rear rim of the box deploys the spring-loaded and independently lockable lower drawer. This partitioned drawer is fitted with a full-width ring/cufflink channel. The interior brasswork is delicately engraved with a scroll design; both Bramah lock plates being further engraved with ‘Asprey - 166 Bond St’.

The Bramah locks are fully working and come with their original Bramah key.
