French Antique Jewellery Box in Rosewood with Grapevine Brass Inlay, by Aucoc

Dating from the mid-1850's, this large and imposing French antique jewellery box is veneered in rosewood and inlaid with an engraved brass design depicting grapevines. The box is finished with radial brass edging, recessed brass handles, and centrally mounted 'S.C' initials.

The interior is lined with blue velvet and edged with matching moiré silk.

The full width lock mount, fitted with a Bramah patent lock, bears the engraved manufacturer’s mark of, ‘Aucoc Ainé à Paris'. The lock comes with its original key.
