Antique Gentleman's Travelling Jewellery Box in Coromandel, by Houghton & Gunn

ENQUIREDating from 1868, this beautifully proportioned gentleman's antique jewellery box is veneered in coromandel with brass edging and a Bramah lock.
The interior of the box is lined with blue velvet and Morocco leather. A compartmented leather-bound tray can be removed to reveal a further compartmented area beneath.
The ruched velvet panel in the lid drops forward to reveal a free-standing mirror on the reverse. Behind this is a concealed leather-bound letter wallet.
An engraved brass plate to the rear rim of the box reads 'Houghton & Gunn - 162 New Bond St., London'.
The lock is fully working with its Bramah key.
The condition of the box is excellent both externally and internally.
