Houghton & Gunn

William Houghton established his business in 1818, succeeding the long-established Wrangham family of stationers at 161 New Bond Street, London. 

By 1828, the business occupied both 161 and 162 New Bond Street and specialised in stationery, pocket books, writing boxes and other fine desk and travelling accessories.

In 1868, Charles Henry Gunn joined the business and the firm became known as Houghton & Gunn. Under the partnership, the range of goods expanded to include writing and dressing cases, despatch boxes, leather goods, portable games boards and engraved heraldic work.

Houghton & Gunn continued to trade from 162 New Bond Street in their own right until 1906 when the business was amalgamated with neighbouring Asprey.
